he tweeted "the house will not adjourn the 112th congress until a credible solution to the fiscal cliff has been announced." the house will not adjourn. not! but don't worry, he will be on to the next stage soon enough. it is kind of ironic, since, of course they adjourned today until next week. this is a wednesday. but anyway, that's bargaining is the next stage. and of course bargaining means that you hope to be able to compromise. you hope to be able to avoid the inevitable. the poster boy for this one is oklahoma senator tom coburn who said today that he would rather see tax rates go up than close loopholes because then he thinks he can get tax reform passed in the future. a little bit of wishful thinking. >> i know we have to raise revenue. i don't really care which way we do it. actually, i would rather see the rates go up than do it the other way because it gives us greater chance to reform the tax code and broaden the base in the future. >> jennifer: so he's not giving in. he's just bargaining now to see what he can get later. and then we've got the fourth stage which is depress

as you all know by now house republicans sent in a fiscal cliff counter offer yesterday but the white house is calling it no good. i want to give you an idea of where the two sides stand right now. boehner's new plan would raise $2.2 trillion. now it would extend the bush tax cuts for everyone and yes that does include the top 2%. and it would instead raise $800 billion in revenue from so-called tax reform and that's what we mean when we talk about capping deductions and closing loopholes. the rest of the money comes from cuts to both mandatory and discretionary programs. now to recap again on the president's offer, he wants to raise $1.6 trillion, that's double boehner's amount on the rich an and he's asking for more than $200 billion in stimulus spending and promising about $400 billion worth of cuts to social programs. now obviously those two plans have very little in common. neither side is budging when it comes to their demands on taxes. but now here are a few problems with boehner's proposal. for one, he has yet to get specific on which deductions and loopholes he actually plans

cliff, it's not. both sides are willing to negotiate -- i mean white house is willing to negotiate. they made an offer and mitch mcconnell laughed at that time yesterday. john boehner went on the sunday shows and said basically we're not interested in any of this. so it's not -- the onus is not on the republicans. they're the ones who haven't done anything since election day to try to advance the ball. >> stephanie: yep absolutely. oliver north on hannity's show -- oh, is he judging susan rice? her basic -- yeah. >> susan rice, if she gets to become -- i'll make a prediction for you. she gets to become secretary of state. you will see the united nations get -- get a united states shot on the arms control treaties that the united nations launch and they will supercede the constitution of the united states. that's where they're headed. >> oh, my god! >> this from the guy who sent weapons to the iranians, funding right wing death squads. and lied about it all. >> very glenn beckish right? going to be a w

[farting sounds] >> if the president really wants to avoid sending the economy over the fiscal cliff he's done nothing to demonstrate it. >> we don't know who pays. we don't know what we're talking about in terms of actual legislation to increase revenues it's magic beans and fairy dust. [farting sounds] >> stephanie: all right. >> fairy dust goes very well with bourbon. >> stephanie: republicans were quick to say that boehner's plan was attracting criticism from the right particularly from jim demint of south carolina, tea party leader and as such, represented more of a compromise than obama's stance. uh no! nice try. demint said boehner's plan will destroy american jobs and allow politicians in washington to spend more. oh, please we're not falling for this. they think if they criticize the plan, oh, well it must be a good compromise then. nice try! 29 minutes after the hour. spongebob squarepants tom kenny, our buddy our pal next on "the stephanie miller show." when the last card is played what will be remembered? explore the lives of the famous and infamous who changed our world
